Thanks for this post. I have two comments:
First, thank you for your posts in your native language! I spent over an hour reading/translating the link to 'Journal d'un avocat.' It was enlightening et bonne pratique for my lousy French. If you've been following how we Americans are dealing with and debating the status of our legal and illegal immigrants, you know that we have our issues as well. For many reasons (beyond this topic), I've felt shame for my country in recent years. Just wanted to share that.
Second, on a completely different topic, I really want to buy Samaruai and Louis XIV. I stopped looking at interesting board games because I thought I was about to move. Yet, I haven't landed a job yet. Last weekend, I found 'Starship Catan' (the two-player board game) here in Hawaii and I bought it on an impulse. My wife and I are enjoying it, but we don't think it's as balanced as the two-play 'settlers' card game. I think I have to go seek these other games out online.
I'm impressed you took the time to read the article.
About games: I've looked at Starship Catan, and finally did not buy it because I thought the theme would not click with my wife. I've bought Louis XIV recently, because of the theme, and we've been having a great time playing it. It works well with 2 players, even though it's a bit fiddly (I find there is a significant amount of moving counters around). The game is fairly complex, but after the first turn (among 4) it starts making sense.
About Samurai: I don't own it but I've played it online, at MaBiWeb. I've only played once but it's a lot of fun (and I won ;-) ). If you want to try a game there, it's very easy to set up.
